The MAX253 is a monolithic oscillator/power driver designed for isolated RS-485 and RS-232 data interfaces. It operates from a 5V or 3.3V DC supply, driving a center-tapped transformer primary to provide isolated power levels up to 1W. The device features a low-power shutdown mode, pin-selectable frequency options of 200kHz or 350kHz, and ensures break-before-make action between its internal power switches.
